"Innovation needs Documentation"
The continued success of Java comes with a steadily growing class
library. New methods for the compression of information are necessary.
For this a new kind of visual attractive class diagrams is
presented, which transcend the normal UML standard.
Our diagrams show the classes in the standard Java libraries and
expose their relationship to each other.
These diagrams transcend UML class diagrams by using graphical
design elements like area, color, texture, contrast, repetition
and alignment to convey information, which makes them more
usable and visually pleasing than the standard UML design.
The diagrams
are interactive, i.e. the separate classes have links to the
API-documentation. The current version 0.7 ships 168 class diagrams
which cover most of JDK's packages.
The future plan is to chart the whole of the JDK 1.4 and than go
on to J2EE, JME and third party libraries.
The site additionally contains a series of tables for the Java
language and other contributions to information technology.
These
tables aren't from Sun Microystems Inc. and therefore aren't part
of any official documentation. The tables contain apart from the
core data an indication of the frequency of use of each grammatical
Java element. Every table is available as a low resolution GIF
image and a high resolution PDF file.
The site is available in both
English and
German.
